Mairead Skirka

I graduated from Glasgow University in 2020 and initially worked in mixed practice in Carlisle for 1 year. This allowed me to gain a great deal of experience and become skilled at working with a variety of species in emergency situations. I soon realised I was most passionate about small animal work and decided to move back home to Glasgow to focus on this in June 2021.

Since being at BVC and CVC I have really enjoyed meeting all your animals and being part of a brilliant veterinary team. I love the busy, varied days and particularly enjoy performing surgery and seeing sick patients get back to their "tail wagging" selves. Outside of work I am happiest when exploring and keeping active: whether that be climbing hills, skiing in Glencoe or attending a dance class. I also love trying new eateries with friends and family and exploring new countries during my holidays!

I am looking forward to meeting even more of your 4 legged friends over the coming years and making a positive impact to their health.
